More about D. "Wayne" Metz in his own words: I was born in Newark, NJ and attended public schools there. After graduating from the South Side High School,, I majored in Business English and Accounting at the New York University-Extension in Newark and later received an associate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Newark Technical School which is now the NJ University of Technology. I did that in 1935. My father, Edgar was an 1895 graduate of the same school. After a starting position with the Bell Telephone Laboratories in New York City, and five months with the Otis Elevator Co. in Harrison, NJ, I joined the New Jersey Bell Telephone Co. in Newark, retiring in 1974 with the title of Senior Engineer.
