  General Notes:

In the early census Charles is listed as being a farmer and thought to be a land owner who later lost his land. A closer inspection of the data for Charles. In 1850 he was living in Camden County, and was not a land owner. In 1860 he was in Gloucester Co., and not a land owner then, either. Few of the neighbors from either census owned land, this was not unusual. He also didn't own land in 1870, as you already discovered. Just because someone was a farmer didn't, by any means, mean they actually OWNED the land they worked on.

Charles married Anna Busher, daughter of Unknown and Mary Rebecca Busher. (Anna Busher was born in 1828 in PA, USA.)
