As recorded by an email from Helene Rhodes ( Grand daughter) "He came to the U.S. first. Then, My grandmother arrived . Their first child born in the USA was William: Nov. 7, 1914. So, she had to have arrived here in 1913 or the beginning of 1914. He read Pushkin - realy liked him. He read an Engilsh newspaper daily and read a Russian newspaper which came to the house. He wasnted to teach both Mom and me to read and write Russian. Neither of us wanted to learn. However, my Mom did speak and understand it. I think she read and write it to some extent."
