In the census of 1900 a snapshot of time reveled that travel from England was in 1886 no boat reference yet. The Greenhalgh's lived at 77 School Street, Yonkers, NY, USA. The twelfth Census of US June 9, 1900.

Greenhalgh, William Jan 1853 age 47
Emeline Feb 1854 age 46

Benjamen Feb 1894 age 6

The Scolding's lived next door at School Street. This was Emeline's Brother John Scolding age 43. (see John Scolding for details).

In the 1910 census for Westchester County, Yonkers, NY I got a birth year for Bill Smith's father, 1883. Bill is eight months old at the time of the census. My WHG1853 is 56 and his wife Emeline (Emiline or Emily) Hague Scolding is passed on for five years. What I gather since the move from School street (now 1910) to 90 Lindon (Linden) street Bill Smith's mother Henrietta Smith is listed as WHG1853's (head) daughter and Harry Smith as son-in-law. Harry is chauffeur for a private family. I feel he could not come up to WHG1853's standards and left Henrietta and Young Bill. As a then single parent with no employment of her own is very dependent on dad (WHG1853). Dad might still have been grieving his loss of Emiline so Henrietta becomes the substitute house person. Another sign of loosing touch with the "old country" declaring they came over in 1885. When the 1900 census claim is 1886. I will need Ellis Island records to confirm that one. Ben WHG1853's youngest son is now 17 and works as a Bookkeeper for a real estate office.

The ships passinger list for the S.S. Egypt shows a Greenhalgh age 22 in March 8, 1886. Possibly WHG1853 but age does not jive with 1900 census.
Further investigation revealed a passinger list from the Oregon, December 21, 1885 Liverpool and Queenstown.
