He was a cigar manufacturer (Broad And Market Cigars) and a Politician. Served one or more terms as an Essex County Freeholder.
The 1900 Census has Ernest living in William L Youmans home at 96 Garden Street, Newark NJ, USA as Ida's Bo. He is 30 and Ida is 25.
The 1880 Census has Ernest living at his boyhood home in Knowlton, Warren County, NJ at age 15 working as a Farm Laborer.
