William Laurie Youmans

William Laurie Youmans served 9 Months as a drummer boy in the Civil War at age 15. Enrolled September 3, 1862, mustered in September 18, 1862, mustered out June 27, 1863. He was in Company C, 26 New Jersey Infantry. His occupation was a house painter.

The letters sent home to his mother seem to indicate that he re-upped at age 16 to be a private.

William married Catherine Chamberlin, daughter of Isaac Chamberlin and Lydia. (Catherine Chamberlin was born on 8 Apr 1848 and died in 1905.)
